Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR)

Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) fire sprinklers are designed to produce high-momentum water droplets in a hemispherical pattern below the deflector. This permits penetration of the fire plume and direct wetting of the burning fuel surface while cooling the atmosphere early in the development of a high-challenge fire. ESFR storage sprinklers are recommended for storage occupancies and warehouses, and are specifically designed to suppress high-challenge fires. In many applications, ESFR sprinklers can provide ceiling only protection, which eliminates the need for in-rack fire sprinklers for storage applications.
